Together, we make the difference!

Dear Teachers, Students, and Community Members,

Welcome back to the 2015-16 academic school year.  I hope you all have enjoyed a restful and rejuvenating summer, as well as have had some time to pursue some personal and professional projects and interests.  It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that I begin my third year as Mt. Eden High school principal.  I am proud to say that our school has a talented and dynamic staff striving to maintain and facilitate a highly rigorous academically engaging environment for all of our students.  We are dedicated to promoting critical thinking skills with a focus on cultivating strong community values and civic responsibility. It is the goal of MEHS to create life-long learners by establishing a partnership between all stakeholders.

I am excited about our upcoming partnership with Mills College to further support our work in developing as a Professional Learning Community that we will continue to embrace new instructional ideas to ensure that our students are provided a competitive educational experience and are college and career ready.  This is only possible by the active and enthusiastic participation of our entire school community.  The first day of school, August 26th, will soon be upon us, and as always, the start of a school year is filled with excitement and anticipation for our staff and students; new teachers, new friends and for some a new experience at the high school.  Our goal is to ensure that all students begin the school year equipped for success.

This year’s theme is entitled “Together, We Make the Difference!” with the focus of involving all stakeholders, faculty, staff, and students.

Here are some results we’ve accomplished in the last two years:

  • Graduation Rate: 2013 78.4%--2015 95% increase of 16.6%
  • 2015 81% of our seniors will be attending college
  • CAHSEE Results: 2013 ELA 75%--2015 80% increase of 5%
  • CAHSEE Results: 2013 Math 79%--2015 83.3% increase of 4.3%
  • Reclassification of English Language Learners: 2014 18.9%--2015 40% increase 21.1%
  • Enrollment: 2013 1700—2015 projection 2070 increase of 370
  • Received WASC Accreditation for three years thru June 2018.

I sincerely hope you will take the time to visit our web page and learn about the opportunities available to all students who are members of our Mt. Eden family.  I am confident that this will be an outstanding school year and look forward to working with staff and community to continue the Mt. Eden tradition of academic excellence.

Best,

Greg Fobbs

Principal
