MEBAD hits 150 HAAL wins in a row!
Mt. Eden's Badminton Team started their 2012 HAAL campaign on a strong note by winning three straight home matches and has continued that momentum through the HAAL season. The team won it's 150th HAAL contest in a row last week vs. San Leandro and has since won two more matches versus Arroyo and Castro Valley, running the win streak up to 152. The win streak is the longest team winning streak in the history of the HAAL. The win streak has spanned 13 years and more than 500 players have contributed to the streak.
"This is an incredible streak, that is impossible to explain and understand. It is a tribute to all the players, alumni and coaches who have given their time, effort and heart to the team. "-Coach Duran
If you have not watched the team come out to their last home match on Monday, May 7th at 3:30.
Coach's Corner
I am looking forward to embarking on my 17th season of coaching our badminton team. Last year our team won it's 150th leagaue match in a row! That feat took 13 years to complete and was an amazing accomplishment. This year, like every year, brings new challenges and new opportunities. With this being the first year of the newly formed Western Alameda Athletic Conference (WAAC), I am hoping our team can continue our run of excellence on and off the court. Although we lost many talented players from last year's squad, who have moved on to college, we still have a great young core of returning players to build our team around. With only 5 returning varsity players we are looking forward to the challenge of building our team arounf the core values of Family and Personal Accountability.
